🌬️ The Giralda tower

We will go all the way up to the top of the Giralda tower, the bell tower of the Cathedral (it has a height of 104meters): in the past it was the old minaret of the “Aljama” mosque of Seville. It’s just next to the Cathedral.

🔖The complete description of the Royal Alcazar, the Cathedral and the Giralda tower guided tour

We will visit the most well-known monuments of Seville, the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See, the Giralda bell tower and the Royal Alcazar (the Royal Palace of Seville) during a 3 hours guided tour in english.

We will discover the largest gothic cathedral in the World and the third widest cathedral of the planet. It hosts the grave of Christopher Columbus (the famous sailor from Genova – Italy today), the biggest altarpiece of Christianity in the World, paintins by famous spanish painters, such as Zurbarán, Murillo, Goya and many other painters and sculptors as well. You will have the honour of taking a leap into the past and getting aspects of daily medieval life throught the exhibited works of art. Otherwise we will see the main sacristy, the chapter house, the treasure room and the garden of the orange trees (the old ṣaḥn of the mosque)

After that we will go up to the Giralda tower, the bell tower of the Cathedral and the old minaret of the Aljama mosque of Seville. I’ll explain why it was built, how the architects build it and the meaning of the Christian symbols on it. From the top of the tower you will have the opportunity to take tons of panoramic photos of the city. What a view!

The last monument we will visit is the Royal Alcazar. That is an enormous building with 8 hectares of surface and more that 1000 years of history. Many consider the Royal Alcazar of Seville to be one the most beautiful palaces ever in Europe along with the Alhambra of Granada. You will realise that the Royal Alcazar is a never-ending succession of styles of different centuries: the arab-hispanic culture in the XI century, the gothic style in the XIII century, the impressive Mudejar style at the end of the XIV with reinassance, grotesque and romantic influences. Its lush garden has more than 2000 trees (many of them are more than 200-300 years old) and exotic plants from all around the World.
